As a client-facing web designer at the local tech firm Dealer Spike, a graduate of Portland coding school Epicodus, and a customer service enthusiast, I have learned the principles of Front-End Design while maintaining a focus on creating productive longterm relationships with clients and coworkers alike. Areas of particular interest and experience include Photoshop, Illustrator, Sketch, InVision, and user story mapping. I also enjoy working with clients to ensure that their design needs are met in a way that is helpful to both them and their website users, keeping current with design trends, and user testing. I would like to increase the use of UI/UX testing in my work, in order to refine and challenge my ideas about user-centered design, so that I can make websites that are both beautiful and beneficial for my clients.
The majority of my previous work experience involves large amounts of customer service, self-directed problem-solving, and the ability to effectively communicate with all members of the general public. During my time working for the Compass Housing Alliance and the Seattle Public Library, I recognized the growing need for effective designers, programmers, and technical personnel in the nonprofit sector. Inspired by the potential to aid the community, while simultaneously gaining a fascinating skill set which facilitates lifelong learning, I ventured to Epicodus and then Dealer Spike. While increasing my knowledge of the technology sector and web design, I am excited to share my ever-developing skills with those who focus on creating a user experience grounded in testable facts and intuitive design.
